This looks awful for her. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said, citing Vanita Gupta’s responses to the committee’s questions; “She has avoided answering questions, or as in the case of her testimony here in front of the committee, she’s completely, 180 degrees — taken a 180-degrees position different from what she has on a previous occasion as recently as last summer when we had her before the committee [to] testify on police reform.”
Sen. Cotton vs. Biden DOJ Nominee Vanita Gupta: “Against Which Races Do You Harbor Racial Bias?”
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AK) took on President Joe Biden’s nominee for associate attorney general Vanita Gupta at a confirmation hearing last week for a past comment alleging that all Americans “have implicit biases and racial biases.”
“You said we all have implicit biases and racial biases. That’s all. Every single American you accused of implicit bias and racial bias. So, I’m asking you again against which races do you harbor racial bias?” Cotton asked.
“I am quite aware that I know that I hold stereotypes that I have to manage,” Gupta responded. “I’m a product of my culture. I believe that all of us are able to manage implicit bias, but only if we can acknowledge our own and I am not above anyone else in that matter. I think implicit bias is something that is part of the shared human condition.”
Gupta’s confirmation hearing featured confrontations over her past anti-Republican comments as well as accusations that she supports a far-left agenda that includes defunding police departments.

“I regret the harsh rhetoric that I have used at times in the last several years,” Gupta said at the hearing, during which she apologized “for the kind of coarse language I have used in the past.”
Yeah… She regrets it but doesn’t admit it nor does Gupta apologize
Cornyn accused Gupta of undergoing a “confirmation conversion” and saying what she believes she has to in order to get confirmed.
“So I remain very concerned about this nominee, I think she has the potential of being the most dangerous nominee to the Department of Justice; one that needs to shun politics and ideology in favor of enforcement of the rule of law on an evenhanded basis.”
