Money is not to blame for corruption. Criminals are. But blaming the money as “he’s in it for the money” usually stops and argument because just about everyone accepts the idea that money is evil. It isn’t. When someone is caught stealing it’s usually expla9ined away as she just wanted the money. Yes, of course but she stole something. It’s the stealing that’s the moral violation. What was stolen is not the essence of the crime. It’s the theft, not the item that’s the moral violation.

Money is inert. Sure, polished gold coins are desirable but so is paying for what you want. That’s how most people think. Not criminals. Criminals are aberrations. People don’t steal. Criminals do but not because they are people. Criminals steal because they are criminals.
