Wentz is a passer. He likes to and can throw the football so he will have to be extra careful to keep the wet ball speed down so the receivers can catch it. Pederson will have to run the ball more than he likes to. But the Giants will have the same problem. Rain hurts both sides and the lineman can’t block as well in wet turf. They will play with rain cleats which grip better but make things slower because they’re harder to push around in the mud.

Cleats come in four sizes:

  • 1/2 inch (at the start of the season on dry fields)

  • 3/8 inch (for normal field conditions once fields have been used in several games)

  • 3/4 inch (for wet or soft fields) aka. “Rain Cleats”

  • 1 inch (for extreme cases — think Lambeau Field and the “Frozen Tundra” game)… Also for deep mud.
