Depending on which list is used European countries which are despised by the way by folks from the lesser countries and cultures dominate the best places to live list.

Having visited most of them over the past 30 years or so I’d have added South Africa and Rhodesia before it was taken over by Comrade Robert Magube as well as Kenya, Egypt, Israel and many other places and cities that didn’t make the lists.
Mercer, one of the world’s largest HR consultancy firms, releases its “Quality of Living Index” annually, which looks at cities that provide the best quality of life. It considers Vienna as Number One, Zurich as number two then Munich, Auckland, Vancouver, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Geneva, Copenhagen Sydney, Amsterdam, Wellington, Berlin, Bern, Toronto, then Melbourne, all good choices.
Same for the Legatum List of The 25 richest, healthiest, happiest, and most advanced countries in the world which picks New Zealand then Norway Finland, Canada, Australia, Sweden. Denmark, The UK, Germany, Luxembourg, Ireland, Iceland, Austria, Belgium then America.
Neither of these lists grasp the uniqueness that is America. Only America could have produced Oprah and Donald Trump as well as the nucleaar age, the best tech revolution and, well the recent race-based protests of the NFL sort of ruined American football for many, many people who will never follow it like it was followed before the protests against America began.
Which place or places will be the best to live in the future? Impossible to predict as people change the places that are considered the best according to some criteria some reviewer or group that has an ax to grind or a place to promote.
So far, after being in 92 countries however for me it’s always been America. It was rough during Obama and Hillary almost made it worse but America seems back on track…Hope that doesn’t change but, ….
