If Social Justice is designed to correct past wrongs it cannot penalize those who are innocent. Likewise, if Social Justice is to fix a broken system going foreward it cannot penalize the innocent. Those are two different takes on what’s going on. It is patently wrong to penalize the innocent. Individuals who have committed no wrong must not be punished yet Affirmative Action did just that. Social Justice calls for repeating the error.
How can that be made right? The correct answer is it cannot. Individuals must be judged by their individual nature and accountable for their individual actions. Someone penalized for the actions of a neighbor or an ancestor is someone wrongly penalized. That should be redressed but the betting is that it will not only remain unredressed, it will be condemned. Therein lies the rub with Social Justice. It is not justice but injustice. It needs to be addressed but for now it remains forbidden. No justice is not justice at all. Social Justice calls for putting a finger on the scale to influence the outcome. That’s doubly wrong. Calls for justice are correct. Calls for Social Justice are not.
