Only drink responsibly because when you drink you can freeze to death which is fatal when you are drunk because alcohol gives you a false sense of warmth. It’s why alcoholics don’t need a jacket in cold weather and it’s very dangerous so be careful about drinking and going out in the cold.

Unfortunately, even though alcoholic drinks taste reallly great alcohol makes you lose body heat faster and increases your risk of both frostbite and hypothermia.

Why Whiskey is Dangerous in the Cold: It gives you a False Sense of Warmth making you think you are warm when your core body heat is going down. Why does tht happen?

Alcohol causes blood vessels in your skin to dilate, or widen, which brings warm blood to the surface. This creates a temporary, but deceptive, sensation of warmth which can kill you in a storm.

  • Rapid Heat Loss: While your skin feels warmer, the increased blood flow to the surface causes your core body temperature to drop more rapidly as heat escapes into the cold environment. Your body’s natural response to conserve heat is reversed.

  • Impaired Judgment: Alcohol can impair your judgment and reduce your perception of the cold, leading you to make poor decisions, such as not dressing warmly enough or staying outside for too long.

  • Dehydration: Alcohol is a diuretic, which can lead to dehydration, a condition that makes you more vulnerable to cold-related injuries.

Visit your local bottle shop before the storm because they may be closed because of the snow.  Here in Pennsylvania we can only buy spirits from the government. Why? No idea but it means we have to find a government store that sells alcohol. Why the government can sell the stuff but we can not sell it is a mystery but we can buy it as long as we pay the government to do it. Why can we buy it and drink it but not sell it? No idea… makes no sense at all. We can’t sell it but we can drink all we can get. No sense.. None at all..
