There’s a rather foolish move being made to remove the name of the Edmund Pettus Bridge which is a landmark in many different ways in the struggle of black Americans to gain equality. The bridge is important to recognize the black struggle. Why erase it from history by re-naming it? Many racist people hate that bridge which is a great reason to keep the name as is. Many people love the bridge because of it’s importance in America’s fight for equal rights for black people. Removing the name will diminish the struggle. If the bridge is re-named for John Lewis who had his skull cracked by the police it will fail to stand for the struggle and will instead call to mind one man.
