Solar Panels cost a lot of money to make. They are expensive to install. A few 12v batteries are needed to store the energy until you need it. You need a light bulb when its dark but there’s no sun to run the solar panel when it’s dark so the energy needs to be stored until you need it. Storing electricity is not too efficient. You need to make about three to ten times more electricity than you need because of the in-efficiency. This means for example that the solar panel makes say 100 watts of electricity but the wires and the device only get about half of it. The other half is simply wasted. The electricity is sent to a battery. Batteries are maybe 25% efficient so three times as much electricity is needed to charge the battery. You need a good, strong, waterproof roof but installing solar panels can cause leaks that need to be repaired.

Look. If solar panels were a good idea the electric company would use them. They don’t. They use oil-fired furnaces to make steam to run turbine generators. You can do that too bit it’s even more expensive than solar panels.
