Average milage on a 1,336 mile superhighway trip from PA to North Carolina with three people in the car. Milage kept improving as the speeds of some of the traffic hit 90 mph. A phenominal trip in a phenominal car. Go Jaguar.
Perhaps the 8 cyl versions would have been a bit more fun to drive at the high speeds but the supercharged six was absolutely fine. More acceleration would have felt better a few times but the supergharged 6 was up to the job. 340 hp is quite a lot of power and 30 mpg felt fine. Nice to know that the car got even higher milage during parts of the trip to come up with the overall 30 mpg.
Yes, we know. 30 mpg is not all that great but… pushing a loaded Jag takes power. The car feels fine at the higher speeds.. What would be nicer? Mercedes? A Mercedes would feel a bit ponderous. A Rolls would be the best but no way a Roller would approach 30 mpg. Maybe 15 mpg for a Rolls. We may get the chance to do it in a Roller next time but the cost would be about ten grand plus.
