An Air Conditioner may be one of the most complex systems in your home. Cold refrigerant fluid moves through a long, folded pipe inside an EXPANDER/EVAPORATOR where the cold fluid expands into the long pipe. As it expands it becomes much cooler. Warm air from the room is carried to the long folded cold pipe by a large fan. The warm air becomes colder and is blown back into the room. The refrigerant fluid becomes hotter as the heat from the hot air in the room becomes colder. The warmed refrigerant fluid is pumped back to a CONDENSING COIL where it becomes hotter. The hot fluid is compressed by running it through the COMPRESSOR where it becomes even hotter. The now hot refrigerant fluid is pumped through the EVAPORATOR where it expands and becomes cooler which continues to the cooling- compression- heating- expansion- cycle where it continues to provide hot, high pressure refrigerant fluid to the EXPANDER/EVAPORATOR. Whew!.. Who knew an air conditioner is so complicated.
