What kind of wine? Wine comes in an amazingly different number of types that range from light, almost like water to very, very heavy wine fortified with various additives including brandy, whiskey ,vodka and spirits of all kinds. With all those varieties there is not one glass that’s universally recognized as being best for all wines but there are indicators that will please even the most discriminating taste. First, a wine glass needs a stem. There are various non-stem kinds of glasses that are very suitable for wine but wine tastes better in a glass with a stem. Second, the bowl of the glass can be slim or large. For wines with less oder a slim glass can be used. For wines with a lot of ‘nose’ or smell a larger bowl is best. Third, crystal is always better because it can be made much thinner than plain glass. Fourth, the better wine glasses cost a lot of money and while there’s nothing wrong with spending a load of money on a wine glass, there are plenty of wine glasses available that cost a lot less than others.
