Article III of the Constitution of the United States guarantees that each and every person accused of wrongdoing has the right to a fair trial before a competent judge and a jury of one’s peers. ….   

  • Note: A peer is someone who is local..

  • Since the Constitution guarantees a jury

  • and because a jury trial requires both a judge and a prosecutor

  • both the judge and the prosecutor must be local.

Otherwise the idea of a trial by a jury of one’s peers has no meaning… Otherwise, for example, the trial of an American citizen for a violation of American law by a judge in India and by a prosecutor in India would only require the jury be from Central Bucks County. That shows how correct it is that both the prosecutor and the judge be local to Bucks County.

The Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth Amendments to the Constitution provide additional protections for those accused of a crime. These include:

  • A guarantee that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without the due process of law…

  • Protection against being tried for the same crime twice (“double jeopardy”)

  • The right to a speedy trial by an impartial jury

  • Protection from excessive bail, excessive fines, and cruel and unusual punishments.
