Former Fox News host Eric Bolling walked out of a BBC News debate about Georgia‘s sweeping new voting laws after self-outed black lesbian Aisha Mills, also a guest said white Republicans like him (Bolling) were only pretending to care about Black people to make a point. Mills is the current President & CEO of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Institute.
Mr. Bolling, a white heterosexual male, a straight white man was on BBC Newsnight on Wednesday to discuss businesses speaking out against controversial laws, and Major League Baseball moving its All-Star game to Colorado in protest by the mostly black professional athletes.
Bolling, a former Fox presenter said that moving the All-Star game out of Atlanta would cost the local community $100 milllion in revenue and that it was now being held in a state where only 9.7 per cent of the population is African American meaning the black inspired move actually made things worse for black people.
Mz. Mills, unable to provide an argument launched a race-based ad hominem attack on Bolling saying he was trying to “create a wedge”.
While visibly sneering and verbally insulting Bolling, Mills doubled down on her cace-based condemnation of Bolling because he’s white and male said: “I think it’s really rich for any Republican, especially a white man, to run around and claim that they care about the economic condition of Black communities and Black businesses when that’s all a lie,” she said even though Bolling had not said that.
Mr. Bolling interjected to claim that false characterization was “insulting and not fair to say”.
“You don’t know me, you don’t know who I am. … That’s just disgusting what you just said,” Mr. Bolling said.
Ms. Mills then wrongly said the Georgia legislation represented a return to Jim Crow-era laws, which enforced racial segregation and saw sustained efforts to stop Black people voting in South until the mid-1960s.
“How dare you try to act like you are somehow a proponent of Black people in businesses, just to make a point and try to create a wedge. It’s ignorant and disrespectful,” she said even thugh Bolling had said no such thing.
Mr. Bolling responded: “That’s disgusting. I’m done. Put me off, that’s disgusting. I am nowhere near anything you’re pointing me to be and the problem with American politics is exactly that. Because I’m white you think I’m racist. That’s BS. I’m done.”
Mr. Bolling returned briefly when host Emily Maitlis asked him to stay for one more question – but then left after his demand for an apology from Mz. Mills clearly refused to apologize for her wrong and disrespectful behavior.
Belligerently she responded: “I’m not going to apologize for being offended. No.” when it was her who offended Bolling.
Aisha, 41 has a net worth of $2 million. She and her lesbian wife Danielle were instrumental in bringing marriage equality to the District of Columbia where she was president of the marriage equality campaign. Married in 2010, the wedding of the two lesbian women was a cultural milestone in the fight for LGBTQ equality and was the first lesbian wedding ever featured by Essence magazine, earning the publication its first GLAAD Media Award.
Bolling, 58, is a heterosexual white male who has an estimated net worth of $25 million. He and his wife Adrienne had one son, Eric Chase Bolling, who died on September 8, 2017, at age 19,
