Trump won in the U.S. Senate 57 in favor of impeaching him vs 43 against. If ten people had voted different he would have been impeached and forbidden from running for president ever again. If the vote against him was just 10 higher, 67, he would have been impeached. In this case he was supported by 43 Senators. If ten fewer had supported him, i.e., if only 33 had supported him he would have been impeached. That’s a really high bar for the Senate to achieve.
The Senate can try him again and again if they want to and the Senate can impeach Trump but they would have to be absolutely foolish and crazy to try that. Trump is immensely popular. Joe Biden won by razor thin margins in six states. There’s no accounting for the mood in America over the failed impeachment. Certainly millions are mad at Congress for attempting to impeach Trump. They believe it was wrong and foolish to try to impeach him. 75 million people voted for Trump. Even though more voted for Biden, Trump is extremely popular had was a great president. Many believe Trump is far more capable than Biden to be president. And if anything goes wrong with the Biden presidency and Kamala Harris takes over the mood in America will get even more dark and dangerous.
