Riots, all led by African Americans in response to the murder of African American Mr. Floyd George by officer derek Chauvin and two other officers who knelt on him with their full weight … all in cities like San Francisco, LA, Seattle, Nashville, Oklahoma City, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, NYC, DC…
Philly, Miami, Vegas, Cleveland, Denver, Des Moines, Dallas, Indianapolis, Charlotte, Kansas City…
Pittsburgh, Columbia, Wilmington, Portland, Phoenix, Tampa, with high African American populations and all prove that oppression is felt by African Americans in present day America… Why??

Not even the election of the nation’s first black president has put an end to America’s racism, as the killing of George Floyd by a white Minneapolis police officer, actually three officers who knelt on his legs, back and neck until he died, behavior that demonstrated once again the racial divide… Why?

The NAACP says: African Americans are incarcerated at more than 5 times the rate of whites.  America has the largest prison population in the world, and the highest per-capita incarceration rate. Why? Lots of questions but no satisfactory answers but one fact is clear. The feeling of being oppressed leads to unwholesome activities.

In Philadelphia that used to be called “The City Of Brotherly Love” over two hundred people were arrested, forty-eight for looting and burglary and eight for theft or assault on a police officer. There were three firearms violations. Thirteen (13) Philadelphia police officers were injured during Saturday afternoon’s protests in Center City, according to Commissioner Danielle Outlaw. Seven officers were treated with chemical burns to the face, four officers sustained head injuries, and four had injuries to various extremities.

HERE. Instances of looting were reported on West Walnut and West Chestnut Streets on Saturday evening and continued Sunday morning. Kensington and Port Richmond businesses were also ransacked by rioters on Sunday afternoon.  Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw reacted to the death of George Floyd saying communities of color are tired of reliving atrocities such as this over and over again. There is no justification for the murder of Mr. Floyd George……None.. Race based differences between people are a fact of life and are here to stay and attitude trumps law, order and common sense. It would be great if people of different races could live together but that’s a utopia that’s never been realized. It’s long past the time to recognize, understand and live with the differences instead of trying again and again to force a false pollyanna world on people who can never be part of it.
