It’s my opinion after being involved with a few addicts and with attempts, all unsuccessful in removing the chronic relapse into the taking of drugs there is basically no cure for drug addiction. There is no therapy that is acknowledged to be successful. No drugs that can withdraw an addict from the addiction. There is no social or biological advice or program or re-hab that succeeds in creating in the brain of an addict a previous state where there was no addiction.

There is always hope that an addict will be able to finally come to the state where the ingestion stops. In prison there are drugs. On the street there are drugs. The availability is not as much of a problem as the addicts addiction. The addiction persists. See the earlier post that includes more detail about the mental, intellectual and biological elements of addiction.

I wish it were different.
