The previous high for a regular flu season, based on analyses dating back more than three decades, was 56,000 deaths.”

“Excluding most suicides, at least 15,549 people were killed by guns in the United States in 2017, according to data collected by Gun Violence Archive (GVA), a nonprofit organization that tracks media and law enforcement reports of shootings.”
That’s 80,000 divided by 15,549 more deaths from the flu than from guns. That’s five times more people who died from flu than from firearms. 5.14 to one to be exact.
