She’s known about the malignant cancerous tumor on her pancreas but dishonestly kept the information completely secret regarding this very significant health issue. Her doctors discovered a “localized malignant tumor” on her pancreas on July 31. Ginsburg has experienced several health issues in recent years. She had cancer surgeries in 1999 and 2009 and broke her ribs twice. In 2014, Ginsburg had a stent inserted into her heart.
Appointed by President Bill Clinton in 1993, Ginsburg dismissed calls to retire from the nation’s highest court during then-President Barack Obama’s second term, when a confirmation process for a liberal judge appeared less volatile due to a Democrat-controlled Senate.
Last year, Ginsburg signaled she intends to remain on the bench by hiring law clerks for at least two additional terms. In an interview last December, Ginsburg affirmed her commitment to remain a justice for “as long as I can do it full steam.” So far with all of the patches she is hanging in there but pancreatic cancer is really aggressive and the five year survival rate is 25%. For the odds makers, Ginsburg has been beating the odds but it’s certain she will not be around much longer.
It’s just about certain that president Trump will get to replace her by appointing a conservative Justice which will be irritating to RBG.
