When government fails to produce as advertised there are many people who become fearful for their lives. Some decide to produce explosive weapons for their own protection. The American revolution is noted for citizens who loosely formed an army and their weapons are usually shown as some sort of professionally made rifle. Many consider those weapons many levels above what they can obtain to oppose government oppression. They resort to home made weapons that can include grenade launchers and rapid fire rifles and pistols. A common “zip gun” has been used by the poor to protect themselves or to settle grievances. An entire industry has appeared that is summarized in a report of the Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement of the US Department of State. It’s a 136 page publication that doesn’t go into actual weapon production but is shows how simple some of these illegal weapons are. Yes, yes, American’s are free to own deadly weapons but in the view of many there are some people who are better off without such things.
