Ocasio-Cortez and Tlaib, refused to criticize Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro as he suppressed a genuinely democratic opposition, and the group they both belong to, Democratic Socialists of America, proclaims “solidarity with the Bolivarian Dictator and his revolution,” a euphemism for Maduro’s dictatorship. Ocasio-Cortez also publicized her “lovely and wide-reaching” phone conversation with British Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn, tweeting afterwards she was “honored to share a great hope in the peace, prosperity, + justice that everyday people can create.” This Corbyn with whom she is “honored” to identify has warmly endorsed one Communist regime after another, not to mention Hamas, Hezbollah, the IRA and blames world problems on NATO, which he calls a “very, very dangerous Frankenstein of an organization.” these are world-class Crazy-Cakes.
Today’s “democratic socialists,” in other words, care more for socialism than democracy. Perhaps that should not scare us since they are unlikely to overthrow democracy in America. But it should tell us everything we need to know about their poor, uninformed or mis-informed judgment, and, yes, the values of these nut-job political figures who are ready to countenance vicious tyrannies in the name of an abstract ideology.
