It’s the guest list. It may exclude the president of the United States while inviting ex-President Obama. Two wrongs won’t make things right.
England has enough troubles with the Europeans and of course the Irish against whom they discriminate right up to the present day. Of course the American’s took England’s 13 colonies away from them so there’s hard feelings against the Americans on the part of many English so inviting President Trump may make matters worse for the people of England who still nurse their grievances against the colonials. Like the Irish, Americans are’t highly regarded over there.
But America was the best ally to England in the last two World Wars so there’s a huge debt owed to us even though nothing’s ever been demanded. England simply doesn’t have anything desired by America. They still have a monarchy for crying out loud. How backward is that?
The guest list at the wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales, and Lady Diana Spencer, Harry’s mom and dad, was on 29 July 1981 and included many members of royal families from across the world, republican heads of state, and members of the bride’s and groom’s families.
Ronald Reagan was the president then. He didn’t attend but First Lady Nancy Reagan did.
Fewer guests attended Prince Charles wedding to Camilla. George W. Bush was president then but he didn’t attend. It’s unknown if he was invited but he probably wasn’t. Joan Rivers was in attendance.
Inviting the Obama’s but not the Trumps will raise a giant thundercloud over our relations with England, English products and against the English people as the snub will be taken personally by most Americans.
The royals have a tremendous opportunity as harry and Meghan are two of the most important, most visible and most liked royals. Look for them to blow it.
