The editor at the Courier refused to print a letter sent to him that rebutted an anti-gun guest opinion he had approved and published.

The Courier shows us every day that the entire newspaper does not stand for Freedom or Liberty. They are Socialists and they approve and print Socialist letters full of Socialist talking points and Socialist lies. . They do not trust the people so they support dis-arming them.

Here’s the refused-to-print guest opinion that was properly submitted on November 16, 2017:

Anti-gun biased Guest Opinion writer Julia Bumbaugh-Shah’s knowledge of guns is too small to lecture our community that we must “face our demons” about guns. She pointedly informs us “mental illness occurs in all countries but our country has a uniquely absurd problem of mass shootings.” We also have another claim to human fame. We have Liberty.

Better we believe, to use guns to control really dangerous people here and abroad rather than try to talk terrorists out of killing innocents. Yes, Bumbaugh-Shah, guns kill people and that attribute stopped the killer in Las Vegas and other places. Or would she recommend the police had a pow-wow instead of shooting back.

Remember the Long Island shooter who roamed a train shooting at random? One passenger with a gun could have stopped him but all of the passengers were following the law and were thereby disarmed, defenseless and endangered because of their collective lack of at least one gun. Same for the theatre in Bataclan; same for Theo vanGogh. No one could shoot back. Even worse, misplaced compassion for killers keeps guns out of the hands of so many victims that spree-killers have a much easier time.

It’s a fact that criminals fear armed citizens more than they do the police because police are rarely around during a crime.

The United States Department of Justice interviewed over 1,800 incarcerated criminals, asking how they felt about civilians with guns. [1] Thirty-three percent of the criminals admitted being scared off, shot at, wounded, or captured by a gun-owning victim. Sixty-nine percent of them knew at least one other criminal who had similar experiences. Nearly 80 percent of felons also claimed that they intentionally avoid victims and homes that they believe may be armed.

This shows that at least one in three criminals has been deterred because of an armed citizen, and that four out five avoid victimizing people that have guns. That’s good news, right?

Here’s more. Thanks to psychology, we know people need a sense of security in order to grow and develop into healthy adults. Not surprisingly, privately owned guns provide that security. Sixty-three percent of Americans believe having a gun in the house increases safety. While some may dismiss the importance of feeling secure and safe, or claim another person’s desire for safety makes them feel unsafe, security is by far the most basic of human needs. And without it, people are left feeling frightened, angry, and defensive – often unable to reach, or even focus on, higher goals.

Hatred for guns comes from a gross misunderstanding of the nature of the individual. Guns themselves are inert, incapable of thought. People however handle all sorts of beneficial though dangerous items from matches to kitchen knives to cars. All can kill, all require thought. Guns are no exception with the added benefit that guns multiply the force of the good.

Death will always be with us. If someone in your home is severely depressed or having suicidal thoughts, access to firearms, knives, ropes, and medications should be highly restricted but armed people are no danger in themselves which is how America was born free and hopefully America will remain free as long as there are good people who understand the nature of the individual which includes the attribute of using dangerous things beneficially and safely.

There are dangerous people from whom we need protection, not rhetoric. Women for example are mostly smaller and less powerful than men and a small pistol in the purse is a better deterrent than trying to hoof it out of the danger zone or talk the criminal out of his inclinations.

Crime increases when guns are forbidden as criminals are quick to see the benefit of unarmed victims. Cameras on every corner help but a camera can’t stop a crook even though it is helpful to identify one after the crime. But a gun can stop a criminal.

Guns and the law-abiding citizens who carry them make and keep America a safer country. When a criminal knows you’re armed , you’re less likely to become a victim. So there are positive benefits of gun ownership for Americans and restricting guns is not the best way to safer streets.
