After the election of Barack Obama, a mixed race child who self-identified as a black man, the white liberals of America were ecstatic. The end of white rule was upon us but Donald Trump upset their plans.

Not to be undone so easy, the white Liberal establishment went to war against President Trump, the white man who upset their plans to re-make America into a non-white ruled culture. Meryl Streep, Jimmie Kimmel, Hollywood, Bill Mahar, Black Lives Matter and traditional civil rights groups like the NAACP and National Urban League were incapable of preventing Trump’s election and don’t yet wield enough power to drive him from office.

Abraham Lincoln freed black slaves. A century later, President Lyndon Johnson embraced some civil rights reforms. The current and immediate battle is unique because it’s being waged almost exclusively among white Americans.

That’s in addition to the theme in University literature of the supposed unwillingness of white people to consider that black people study them as a separate race. Black American author James Weldon Johnson wrote in his 1912 novel The Autobiography of an Ex-Colored Man that “colored people of this country know and understand the white people better than the white people know and understand them”. Black author James Baldwin wrote and spoke extensively about whiteness, defining it as a central social problem and insisting that it was choice, not a biological identity. Yes, your race is a choice, at least to those who see problems with white people.

The destruction of Confederate monuments is against whiteness as is the hoped for destruction of Mount Rushmore, Stone Mountain and Washington DC. Mayor Bill de Blasio has ordered a review of all statues in New York city.

Writer David Horowitz draws a distinction between whiteness studies and other analogous disciplines. “Black studies celebrates blackness, Chicano studies celebrates Chicanos, women’s studies celebrates women, and white studies attacks white people as evil.” And: “You can try to mitigate your evilness, but you can’t eradicate it. The goal of White Studies is to entrench permanent race consciousness in everyone — eternal victimhood for nonwhites, eternal guilt for whites — most famously framed by WS chief guru, Noel Ignatiev, now teaching at the Massachusetts College of Art: “The key to solving the social problems of our age is to abolish the white race — in other words, to abolish the privileges of the white skin.”

In 2001, historian Eric Arnesen wrote: “whiteness has become a blank screen onto which those who claim to analyze it can project their own meanings” and: the field “suffers from a number of potentially fatal methodological and conceptual flaws.”
Arnesen writes that the core theses of whiteness studies—that racial categories are arbitrary social constructs without definite biological basis, and that some white Americans benefit from racist discrimination of non-whites—have been common wisdom in academia for many decades and are hardly as novel or controversial as whiteness studies scholars seem to believe. Additionally, Arnesen accuses whiteness studies scholars of sloppy thinking; of making claims not supported by their sources; of overstating supporting evidence and cherry picking to neglect contrary information.

Arnesen notes that whiteness studies scholars are entirely on the far left of the political spectrum, and suggests that their apparent vitriol towards white Americans is due in part to white workers not fulfilling the predictions of Marxist theory that the proletariat would overcome racial, national and class distinctions to unite and overthrow capitalism. He cites, as an example, David Roediger’s afterword to the seminal Wages of Whiteness, which asserts that the book was written as a reaction to “the appalling extent to which white male workers voted for Reaganism in the 1980s.” Arnesen argues that in the absence of supporting evidence, whiteness studies often rely on amateurish Freudian speculation about the motives of white people: “The psychoanalysis of whiteness here differs from the ‘talking cure’ of Freudianism partly in its neglect of the speech of those under study.” Without more accurate scholarship, Arnesen writes that “it is time to retire whiteness for more precise historical categories and analytical tools.”

David Marcus wrote in May, 2016: “Progressive rhetoric on race has turned an ugly corner and the existence of “anti-white” attitudes can no longer be ignored.

“In the past year, all of the following headlines have appeared, in well-read publications:

The White Guy Problem
White Men Must be Stopped: The Very Future of Mankind Depends on It
I Don’t Know What To Do With Good White People
Ten Things White People Need To Stop Saying
Dear White People: Here’s a List of Things We’d Wish You’d Stop Doing
What is new is the direct indictment of white people as a race.

Marcus continues: “White people are being asked—or pushed—to take stock of their whiteness and identify with it more. This is a remarkably bad idea. The last thing our society needs is for white people to feel more tribal. The result of this tribalism will not be a catharsis of white identity, improving equality for non-whites. It will be resentment towards being the only tribe not given the special treatment bestowed by victimhood.
“It surprises many people that an increasing number of white Americans over the past decade believe whites now face more discrimination than blacks. “Increasingly, white Americans perceive that George Washington, Christopher Columbus, Thomas Jefferson, Jackson, and many other core white historical figures are consistently brought down a peg in order to decentralize whiteness in history. This assault on history has a deeper impact than many on the Left are aware of, or willing to admit.

“One of the key components to the success of anti-white racism is the almost-daily parade of silly micro-aggressions and triggers, specifically on college campuses. Conservative media seize upon disputes over the cultural appropriation of taco night or banning hoopskirts as evidence that minority racial grievance has gotten unhinged. Whites subjected to these barrages of anti-white sentiment are very aware of the dichotomy between non-white culture, which must be valued at all times (even in the midst of terror attacks), and white culture, which must be criticized and devalued. They don’t like it.
“The central theme is identity. That theme quickly calcifies into attitudes too brittle to hold up serious discourse. In reducing all phenomena to a question of race, both the alt right and the progressive left ensure the dominance of racial resentment as the lynchpin of our society.

Trinity College in Connecticut put black professor Johnny Eric Williams on leave, Professor Williams shared an article from Medium called “Let Them Fucking Die.” that argues: “indifference to their (white people) well-being is the only thing that terrifies” bigots, and so people of color should “Let. Them. Fucking. Die”

Matthew Hughey, an associate professor of sociology at the University of Connecticut and a friend of Williams’s, said Williams “was merely the latest target of a campaign by the right-wing white supremacist outrage machine with the goal of silencing academics” working to eliminate oppression.” Wrong, professor Hughey, Professor Williams in not working to eliminate oppression, he’s trying to punish white people. Can’t you grasp that? Of course not because you and professor Williams are part of the problem.

America has been racialized and pressure-cooked into a race-battle. How or when it will end are open questions which no one seems to know but it is certain that race in America has become a battleground.
