Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) responded to an attack from President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday January 14, 2016 by urging Democrats in a fundraising email to “Chip In”.
“Today Donald Trump attacked me on Twitter. He said that I’m ‘all talk’ and ‘no action,’” Lewis wrote in a letter from the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

“I’ve been beaten, bloody, tear-gassed, fighting for what’s right for America. I’ve marched at Selma (there he goes again) with Dr. King. Sometimes that’s what it takes to move our country in the right direction,” the letter continued.

“So chip in”.

Is the Congressman going to Selma and walk across the bridge again? That might be a good idea to remind himself that what Trump said is not like what was done in 1963, 53 years ago when Donald Trump was only 16 years old.

“We refuse to stop now,” it continued. “We’re not done fighting for progress. We’re ready for the next four years…. Join me and “Chip in”.

That’s what lowers the Congressman in the eyes of most people who support individual rights but not exploitative fundraising based on what happened 53 years ago.

Does Lewis ever try to leave the past behind? Most people do that but Lewis is still trying to walk across the Edmund Pettrus Bridge in Selma. Pettus was a Grand Dragon of the Alabama Ku Klux Klan. When legislators decided to name the bridge after him in 1940. Maybe we should remind the congressman that Pearl Harbor happened 75 years ago and the Japanese and the Americans got over that too.

Lewis knows the fight for Individuals Rights is not about money but he knows how to make a buck off Fake News which is all he’s doing here. His glory days are in the past. It’s time for Lewis to get on with it. Instead he’s gone over to the wrong team and is bashing an American President who has committed no foul and has been reaching out to black Americans to help them. Lewis should join Trump and Make America Great Again instead of spitting in the face of this modern America. We thought more of him than that.
