Are the courts in Latin America different than the courts in America? Yes, they certainly are not as fair. They often operate by bribes.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s parents were native born Puerto Rican. Did she learn the spirit of America or was she steeped in the values of a Puerto Rican heritage that goes back multiple generations? One clue is her preoccupation not with American culture and values. She was closest to her Puerto Rican born grandmother per Wikipedia. She describes Hispanics as “My People”. She has not assimilated. Cultures are very complex, and must be transmitted through close family and kin relations. When non-American cultural values are taught individuals of the following generations are deprived of participating in the American culture. Sotomayor therefore has never experienced the deep and wide American culture and she is un-repentant, insisting on representing “her people” as much and as often as possible to her own detriment.
In many of our cities, social solidarity is being replaced by divisive Hispanic and black tribalism, democracy by Puerto Rican, Black and various additional ethnic identity politics. Real integration and assimilation is impossible when ethnic groups are encouraged to cling to customs, practices, even languages from their homeland.
Sotomayor, living in the Bronx in the Puerto Rician neighborhoods didn’t learn to speak English until she was nine years old. She was given an Affirmative Action full scholarship to Princeton. She was not a top stu8dent. Sotomayor remains a fierce opponent of whiteness, which she used to advance Critical Race Theory which Judge Richard Posner of the United States Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals has “label[ed] critical race theorists and postmodernists the ‘lunatic core’ of ‘radical legal egalitarianism.'” He writes,
“What is most arresting about critical race theory is that…it turns its back on the Western tradition of rational inquiry, forswearing analysis for narrative. Rather than marshal logical arguments and empirical data, critical race theorists tell stories — fictional, science-fictional, quasi-fictional, autobiographical, anecdotal—designed to expose the pervasive and debilitating racism of America today. By repudiating reasoned argumentation, the storytellers reinforce stereotypes about the intellectual capacities of nonwhites.”
Judge Alex Kozinski of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals writes that critical race theorists have constructed a philosophy which makes a valid exchange of ideas between the various disciplines unattainable. So much for unbiased judges of Latino origin.
Which shows why Donald Trump was correct to label the biased, Democrat judge with two parents born in Mexico and a menber of in his Trump University lawsuit unfair. Of course he is and if the case goes to the U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor will act the same way. She’s been living in her own intellectual cloud cuckoo land.
