The Washington Post reports that a black man named Edward Archer wearing a long, white Moslim style robe shot 13 times at a cop sitting in his patrol cruiser hitting him 3 times. Archer was shot while trying to escape by the injured cop and is now in custody while being medically treated, did it in the name of Islam. A video of the actual shooting is available thru The Washington Post.

The shooter Archer told police he pledged loyalty to the Islamic State. Incredibly, new major Jim Kenney denied what Archer told the police. Kenney said: “In no way shape or form does anyone in this room believe that Islam or the teaching of Islam has anything to do with what you’ve seen on the screen,” In other words don’t believe your lying eyes. Kenney is worse than wrong, he doesn’t know how to figure things out. He is psychologically insane because his brain isn’t functioning.

Kenney continued: “That is abhorrent. It’s just terrible and it does not represent this religion [Islam] in any way shape or form or any of its teachings,” he added. “This is a criminal with a stolen gun who tried to kill one of our officers. It has nothing to do with being a Muslim or following the Islamic faith.” Wonder why Kenney is denying what Archer told the police. If this is the way Kenney thinks he’s unfit for office and needs medication because he can’t figure out how to find out why Archer shot at the policeman while yelling that he did it because of Islam.

Authorities described the attack as a brazen assassination attempt that took place on a quiet West Philadelphia intersection and marveled that the officer was able to not only survive, but return fire and injure the shooter.

The attacker, who was firing a stolen police gun, was taken into police custody and “confessed to committing this cowardly act in the name of Islam,” Richard Ross Jr., the city’s new police commissioner, said at a news conference Friday.

Ross said that the attacker is a 30-year-old man from Yeadon, an area outside Philadelphia, who also has an address in the city. He was identified Friday as Edward Archer, and the office of Philadelphia’s district attorney said he had been arrested and pleaded guilty to assault and firearms charges in 2013.

Police say Archer told detectives he was pledging allegiance to the Islamic State, the militant group also known as ISIS and ISIL.

From The New York Daily News:
Man Suspected in Philly Cop Shooting Says “Islam’ Was Motive

The gunman who repeatedly ahot at a Philadelphia cop through the window of his squad car admitted to the attempted “execution” and claimed he did it in the name of Islam, according to local media. the mayor who seems to think he has inside information said “no, he didn’t.” Kenney is a Catholic so his knowledge of Islam is very limited.

Police have not released an official motive in the Thursday night attack and have not said if they are investigating it as terrorism.

Officer Jesse Hartnett suffered a broken arm and nerve damage during the harrowing ambush, but was able to fire back at his assailant. The attack was caught on surveillance video, which showed the shooter fire more than a dozen times as he advanced toward the cop’s car until he was next to the driver’s side window.

Hartnett was shot three times. The 33-year-old has served on the police force for about five years, his aunt Cynthia Hartnett told the Daily News Friday. He is expected to make a full recovery.

“He’s OK. He’s going to be OK,” she said.

The attacker is a 30-year-old man from Yeadon, an area outside Philadelphia, who also has an address in the city. He was identified Friday as Edward Archer. Archer’s mother, Valerie Holliday, told the Philadelphia Inquirer that her son was a devout Muslim who had suffered head injuries. He appears not to have an immigration background.

Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) said: “This was an act of barbarism and the accused must be held fully accountable,” Casey said in a statement. “Those who carry out attacks in the name of ISIS or any other terrorist organization must be fully prosecuted. This individual and any who would advocate similar acts are not representative of any religion — they are thugs, and criminals.” How does Sen Casey know Archer isn’t representative of any religion when he told police he acted in the name of “The Islamic State Of The Levant”, i.e., ISIL and “The Islamic State In Syria”, ISIS. The Words Islam appear in both organizations so it’s pretty clear that cultural enricher Ed Archer wasn’t representing America or Christianity when he was shooting at Officer Jesse Harnett. By their words you shall know them might apply correctly in this case which would make Casey wrong about his idea that Ed Archer didn’t act in accord with his religion. Casey misunderstands a lot and his misunderstanding of Archer’s own words don’t do the cause of justice justice.
