Obama announced he will back off a bad deal, just as Israeli Prime Minster Netanyahu requested. But Obama is a spin-meister who can turn an opposite argument into a benefit. He would claim any deal to which he agrees is not a bad deal even though it is.

Remember: “if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor”? How about: “the average family will save about $2,500 on health insurance”? How about: No family will pay more than $2,500 for health insurance”.
How quick he pivoted to explaining he was talking about plans and doctors that met the new rules but the old plans and doctors didn’t. There’s a name for that type of behavior. Lying.

It would be true to Obama’s character to wrongly tell us a bad deal is good. He’s done it before and he’ll do it again, especially over Israel, a country and culture to which he is unfriendly.

But for now we have to take him at face value and try to hold him accountable for trying to get a good nuclear deal with Iran even though that’s as impossible as eliminating hate from human thought.
