There are far more cars and trucks on America’s highways but the air is cleaner than ever because of catalytic convertors that convert environmentally damaging gas into harmless water and harmless gas. It’s a major success story and one that needs to be talked about because it shows the intelligence needed to conquer the conversion of harmful gases into harmless products. Deadly carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbons are converted into safe carbon dioxide and water. Oxides of Nitrogen are changed into harmless nitrogen. In addition lead in gasoline was eliminated as were inefficient carburetors which were replaced by highly fuel efficient fuel injectors.
