You can’t shoot back without a gun.

America protects gun owners because America knows the danger of a dis-armed population. Australia doesn’t so two shooters fired into crowds of people on Bondi Beach killing at least 15 and injuring at least 40 and there was no one to return fire until the police arrived and shot the two shooters. Police shot and killed one and wounded the other one by shooting them but there was not one gun among the thousands of Australian citizens so no one could fire back. Guns can be offensive, as the shooters were or defensive of which there was no one to defend the thousands of innocent Australians on Bondi Beach. The government of Australia is to blame for the Bondi Beach deaths as the government restricted gun ownership on the false assumption that only bad people own guns. The government regulated guns so the two shooters were confident they could get away with killing without anyone shooting back. The cost of restricting guns is more death’s from people who don’t pay attention to the law. Instead of realizing the enormous good that a society or culture that supports guns and encouraging gun ownership along with training including mental training to support guns could be, government restricts gun ownership and use on the false assumption that only bad people would want a gun and ignoring the common sense of the idea of owning and training in the care and use of guns. If guns are evil, why do the police have them? It’s because guns are neither good nor evil and failure to recognize that there are bad and evil people who must be stopped and that good people can stop bad evil people by making sure the population has guns.

While American gun owners do not need to justify exercising their rights, several arguments support firearm ownership that benefit both individuals and society. These include personal protection, recreational activities like hunting and sport shooting, and the deterrence of crime. We would add personal safety in places where bad or evil people operate against other individuals. Additionally, many believe gun ownership is a fundamental right that ensures personal freedom and security.
