Having travelled many times to Africa including some of the places important in the life of Jane Goodall, I admit falling in love with that storied land although not without much trepediation. Africa is the home of humanity, having an environment that crreated and nurtured the beginnings of human life. Jane was a Dame of the British Empire, DBE as well as a PhD and a supurb human being. Her life went in the direction that protected the vulnerable chimpanzees. We benefit from that. Why was East Africa where human life began? The total environment is very beneficial to human developement. The climate is perfect for people. The terrain directs animals into the waiting arms of people who knew how to use the animals to increase their own lives. It’s easy for vegetation to grow. If you want to see where the ancestors of all your ancestors lived, go to Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania.
