In the shadow of where I went to High School, Kensington and Allegheney is a horrific sight. People in the grip of drugs which turned them into xzombies, slumped over, in a stupor because of “Xylazine” or “tranq” which is a deadly sedative used to enhance the effects of heroin, cocaine, and fentanyl.
Xylazine is used in veterinary (animal) medicine. It is NOT an opioid. It is a tranquilizer, sedative and pain reliever that is FDA approved ONLY for use in animal medicine. It has no FDA-approved uses for humans. Xylazine is a Central Nervous System depressant that can cause drowsiness amnesia, and slow breathing, lower heart rate, and lowers the blood pressure to dangerously low levels. Other toxic effects reported include blurred vision, disorientation, staggering, coma, miosis, and hyperglycemia. It has a rapid onset within minutes and can last 8 hours or longer depending on the dose, whether it was injested or injected and whether it was mixed with an opoid or other drug. The efects can linger up to 48 hours for a single 200 mg intravenous dose.
This is not the fault of anyone or anything, it’s as natural to those inflicted as breathing. You can blame the makers and sellers of the drugs but no one forced these unfortunates to put the drugs into themselves. They did that thereby getting the blame for their condition. How can they be helped? They need, first of all, detoxification.
