No wind No travel. Its a big reason why steam power surpassed sails and why coal, oil, gasoline and nuclear power are far better than oars or sails. The ability to travel as you desire is also a basic Right in America. Walk or sail if you want to and sail on a steamship or a diesel powered ship or a jet fueled aircraft are American alternatives. You need money, not permission to travel in America because of Capitalism. True that government licensing can hold you back from driving a car or flying an airplane but these are remnants of a pre-freedom past. You can scuba dive without a license and that’s far more difficult and far more dangerous than driving a car or operating a business but government want’s to stick their tax-fed noses in everything they can and because they can they regulate and tax almost with impunity. A pox on them. Go for more and more freedom and less and less government.
Government can do only three things well. Police, to protect you from criminals; Military, to protect you from foreign invaders; and courts, to protect your property and contracts from breach or fraud by others, to settle disputes by rational rules, according to objective law. Anything else and everything else should be left alone by government. Talk about the sail powered Cutty Sark and education. Both powered by wind. One has been replaced. One more to go.
