A local treasure, the sort of elaborate eating place that’s all good. Aquapezzo, Filet Sinatra, Pappardelle Cinghiale which includes wild boar etc, etc are on the faux Italian menu, (no one there speaks Italian to you). A great, — well at least it’s more than good enough wine list. The best red is an Italian Barolo, ($18 a glass) that while it’s a really good Italian red wine cannot compare to any of the big California reds. It’s not even close.
A great place to people watch as they arrive in their comfortable street rags, … Yes, rags. The hostesses and the waiters are better dressed than some of the absolutely awful appearing eaters and the servers even seem cleaner than some of the dogs around us.
But in the end it’s the food and ambiance that recommend this hugely popular Street Road eatery that’s nestled between a CVS and a car dealer. Hrummph.
What’s better than Toscana 52? Our very favorite for Italian food that has a chef from Sicily and no liquor license which cuts my bill right in half but if I tell you where it is you’ll come and make it even more crowded so go to Toscana. You can be happy there. .
