If you know how to play football why would you listen to someone describe what you just watched? You souldn’t because you just saw what happened and they will replay the play, sometimes more than one time. That’s why I watch football with the sound off. 

You do need the jersey numbers to tell the names of the players because so often the camera shows someone from the front but their name in on the back. Here are the jersey numbers of the Eagles offence:
