How to Defeat Religion in 10 Easy Steps illustrates the authors ideas about specific, actionable steps people can take to facilitate fundamentalist religion’s decline. It covers topics as far ranging as education, welfare, sex, science, capitalism, and Christmas, and each of the 10 chapters focuses on a specific action that research has shown can weaken religion, detailing why and how, and concluding with specific recommendations for individuals, local groups, and national organizations. His prescriptions however all go to the socialist utopia of increasing the size of the welfare state so people have nothing for which they need from religion. He misunderstands a lot about religion but the idea is intriguing.

And something is causing Roman Catholic churches to close. Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Church and Saint Madeleine Sophie Church in East and West Mount Airy, Saint Augustine Church in Montgomery County and The original Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chester County closed in 2016. Sacred Heart Parish, another Montgomery County church, closed in 2014.Saint Madeleine Sophie closed in 2013. Assumption school in Lower Southampton closed in 2010. Low attendence closed the school so the church will probably be closed too but the carrying costs may be low enough to save it for quite awhile. There’s a spectacular oil painting of the Assumption on the wall behind the altar.

The writing is on the wall, so to speak for Philly area non-Hispanic Catholics. Similar trends have been underway in Boston, New York, Detroit, and Philadelphia, that have closed over 1,000 Catholic churches. What’s been going on? Could that trend help eliminate religion based terrorism?
THE INTERNET
More people get information from the internet so they no longer need to congregate to learn about their neighborhood. The internet easily explains evolution and creation so most people abandon creationism.
A recent National Geographic report confirms, the world’s newest religion is: No Religion.

The bible “shows” the world is 4,400 years old while the fossil record shows life on earth and the earth itself is 4.53 billion years old; that is wasn’t “created” by some sky god; that the gods of the ancient Greeks were sort of mischievous large people who could be dangerous or beneficial and all religions are based on the supernatural and the mystical in ways that are easily disproved by elementary science and logic. So much nonsense after all is said and done.
