Lewis, a Carter appointee told Chuck Todd: “I don’t see this President-elect as a legitimate president,” in a clip released Friday. “I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.”
Lewis doubled down on his idea that Trump is not the President when he said: “I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.”
Strangely, Lewis opposes the Second Amendment which provides protections for individuals and has been hailed as one of a set of unique American ideas because it supports individual gun ownership, known to be a strong deterrent to crime. Lewis was part of a rather small group of congresspeople who supported anti-gun legislation in congress on June 22, 2016. They failed to erode the protections of the Constitution and the Second Amendment, a rather strange position because it is at odds with the America Constitution and several hundred years of Supreme Court decisions.
Congressman Lewis was repeatedly elected in Georgia’s 5th Congressional and heavily Democratic, black-majority district. He won re-election with 253,751 votes which is the opposite of the State of Georgia where Republican Donald Trump won 2,068,623 votes and Hillary received 1,837,300 votes. trump received over eight times as many votes in Georgia as John Lewis.
John is stuck in a time warp. He made his name back in the days of MLK. Good, but the world has turned many, many times since then. A black man was elected President of the United States. The days of Selma are over. You need to start thinking of how to work with a Republican President just as the Republicans learned to work with Obama. If you continue to say stupid things like Trump isn’t legitimate you’re going to have to get some medication because an inability to recognize reality is a sure sign of mental problems. It’s up to you, John, to get yourself the necessary help and recognize Donald Trump is your president too. After all, this is the America you fought for so stop living in the past. Stop fighting trump. You are better than that. You are a fighter and America needs fighters because the world is on fire from Obama so straighten out, get your old fire back and help Make America Great Again.
