Whittaker admitted he taught hinself to write. Ayn Rand was a natural Both could write but Rand had more talent, .. far more. Chambers wrote about what happened. Rand wrote fiction, .. about thigs that didn’t happen except in her mind. Rand’s Magnum Opus, Atlas Shrugged is a wonderful story with plenty of invented characters. Chambers take-down of Alger Hiss was masterful.. But compared to John Galt or Hank Reardon or Wesley Mooch it’s not even a close call. Rand was the better writer.. She had faults both of ability and character not to mention her immoral affair with Nathaniel Brandon and her attempt to clean it up by getting the approvals of both of their spouses, the cad! Rand in that way was a complete hypocrite of her own moral system. One does not justify a bank robbery by getting the Vice President to agree with it. Robbery is wrong and bank robbery is in particular, wrong so Rand’s gambit of getting permission to fornicate with Nathaniel doesn’t justify her fornication. Whittaker Chambers on the other hand was completly duped by Communism long before he saw the great errors of Socialism in general andCommunism in particular although the case can be made that he never completely saw the error. He merely substituted the authoritarianism of Christianity for the authoritarianism of Communism and her never got the blazing truth of the moral completeness of Capitalism which rand recognized as soon as her early years when she purposely deceived the Russian authorities and escaped to America on the basis of simply visiting her relatives in Chicago. She split for Hollywood and became a script writer. Cheers to Ayn Rand. Kudo’s also for Chambers because it was a big thing to hide the evidence in a pumpkin and to step up and stand up for America.
