He’s correct but it’s not such a simple thing to do. A car uses Direct Current, DC, and a home uses Alternating Current, AC. The type of electricity has to be changed before a car battery can be used to power a house but there’s an easy way to plug your refrigerator into your car battery using an inverter. Here’s a picture of one that’s about $50..
That would protect the food in your refrigerator but you wouldn’t have water or any way to cook unless you had city water and natural gas.
If you want to use your Electric Vehicle to run your entire house you will need a far more capable inverter and some way to shut off the electricity from the power company and connect the power from the electric Vehicle.
A simpler solution might be to install a generator that generated AC power. The main power to the house has to be disconnected, the generator started and connected to the house. That’s about $5,000 and up, depending on the size of your house and the amount of electricity you would need to run whatever you want to turn on. Once you have the generator and the switching gear you can run your generator for weeks at a time and pay zero to the electric company. It’s done all of the time at remote hunting lodges.
