Putin needs to get WOKE. He illegally invaded and continues to illegally occupy Ukraine. Whether or not he has a case to invade and occupy Ukraine, he did it and that in itself is a violation of international law. Broadly speaking, Putin’s 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine can be grasped as illegal precisely as it broke and undermined the Charter of The United Nations – arguably one of the most significant documents of international law.
Putin on Sept. 21 ordered the partial mobilization of the Russian army, the first military call-up of its kind since the Second World War.
“Russia, its political leadership, and all those involved in these ‘referenda’ and other violations of international law in Ukraine will be held accountable,” EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said in a statement.
Putin seems to wrongly believe the people in the region can simply decide to leave Ukraine and join Russia.
