It’s an Arthurian legend that the cup from which Christ drank at the Last Supper was made of gold and lost. During the middle ages a search for the cup became the basis for the legend of the Holy Grail. Grail was another word for cup so the cup grew into the legend of a gold cup that became a golden chalice which became the Holy Grail and the group of knights who went in search of it were called the Knight’s of the Holy Grail which in French is the Chevaliers de Sangreal.
