A semi-automatic requires the trigger to be allowed to return to rest then pulled again to fire a round. An automatic will keep firing if the trigger is kept pulled. So… If a strict background check is demanded then full auto guns should be allowed to those who pass with flying colors. For example, expand the background check to include say intelligence then those who are very intelligent can buy full auto guns. Felons who are no danger to others, for example those who failed to pay a tax of one kind or other but never hurt anyone can buy guns. High Intelligence felons can be trusted with full auto guns, same as high intelligence accountants because neither of them want to hurt people. Highly Intelligent and college degreed people can get say: .50 caliber full auto guns and buckets full of ammo. Maybe even hand grenades. Need a reason? How about freedom? How about you know you better than the government.
The one size fits all doesn’t work in many instances so bigger and better things should be available to more qualified people. The problem is so many people have been indoctrinated into not trusting anyone with weapons that it’s almost impossible to have a rational conversation about freedom, the Second Amendment or Property Rights. People are conditioned to not trust anyone. Some rather stupid people refuse to even trust themselves.
