Baby food is food that’s made into a puree or a sauce. A fork or a potato masher can do it but a blender can, for example, turn oatmeal flakes into a powder which can be cooked and turned into baby food. Cream of wheat is just about baby ready but it can be whipped up in a blender to make it into a more syrupy texture. Get a jar of baby food. Make some homemade food and compare it to the baby food. Chances are the home made food will be too thick for a baby. Whirl it in a blender and compare it again. See? It’s smoother after being in the blender. Baby’s are just tiny people who cannot eat the same things because for one thing they have no teeth so they cannot chew their food. Baby food must be smooth enough so they don’t have to chew it. Kids who live in places where there’s no grocery store to buy baby food eat the same food as the rest of the people but the food is first cooked then pounded or mashed into a sauce-like consistency. Check with your doctor or with other parents about how to make food that the baby can eat.
Remember that in 1922, Polish-American Stephen Poplawski made the first food blender by wiring a series of small, spinning blades to an electric motor then Steve attached these blades to a clear glass container specially molded to conform to them, and thus the blender was born. Poplawski’s invention allowed soda shop operators to pour cold milk, malt, and other flavor products into the receptacle and mix them to create a frothy liquid puree, resulting in the rise of the milkshake as the beverage of choice in diners across the country, as well as the first modern blender. So in 1921 there were no blenders but in 1922 the first one was invented.
