Recommended and Ranked… I’ve been to all of the places listed. …And English is my only language.

No. 1. Paris… Paris in number one. It’s Paris over all of the other cities for it’s fantastic vibe, .. it’s overall feeling that it’s the most civilized place in the universe and then there’s The Louvre… Side trip down to Marseille isn’t easy but Marseille is worth getting to. They speak French and are fiercely proud of it but just say Excusez-moi. Wait until you have their attention then ask: do you speak English and they’ll warm right up. English is the second language in loads of places around the globe and most people want to help other people.

2. Oia… It’s on the island of Santorini in Greece in the Mediterranean sea… It’s not a city but it’s on this list because if you are going to the best places on earth then you will want to go there.

3. Vienna… Plenty of reasons to go there. A great feel about the place. The buildings.. the hotels… the restaurants… the places. The little streets and alleys.. Vienna may even be the best.

4. Meteora… Greece… A place, not a city. Gotta see it. Gotta get up in the hills and see the monasteries. Gotta be there.

5. Rome.. Of course. Have a grappa in the evening and watch the people go by….

6. Manhattan… the restaurants… the shopping…. the museums..

7. Copenhagen.. Not a really great city but another fantastic place because of the overall vibe. It’s just a great place.

8. Venice… Got To Go To Venice… San Marco Square. Saint Marks Cathedral.

9. South Africa.. If and only if you can get a local to guide you around Capetown, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth… Cape Point … but don’t go to South Africa on your own.

10. Zug… Switzerland.. A very small town with a great vibe.. But you’ll have to get the vibe on your own. They don’t sell vibe locators.

11. Mykonos, Greece… A place to lay back and catch the rays.

12. Monaco… Small, very enjoyable

13. New Orleans… Bourbon Street

14. Brussels, Belgium… Bruges too.

15. Hong Kong from the Peak but be very careful.. It’s in China and it’s no where as great or as safe as it was when the British ran the place.

16. San Francisco… See the Golden Gate… Coit Tower… Fisherman’s Wharf

17. Marbella, Spain then go Ibiza and Formentera

18. Southern Portugal

19. Oslo, Norway

20. Western Ireland… Northern Ireland and Dublin too. Drive around the entire island. English breakfast and Italian restaurants.. Irish food doesn’t make the best food lists but the pubs are tops and one gets used to the room temperature beer which turns out to be quite good. Irish sweaters.

21. Cologne, Germany.

22. Amsterdam, Netherlands

23. Berlin, Germany.

24. Mexico City, Mexico

25. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

26. Salzburg, Austria… Mozart’s birthplace

Many, many, many  more great places and good places to get to and see but get to the above 2 places first. Every city and every large town has reasons that people are there so a great vacation can happen in a lot of places but the above places are very special. You can enjoy a vacation in Martha’s Vinyard, Nantucket, Washington DC. Annapolis, Maryland, Cleveland, Bucks County PA or Chicago. All great places but not quite as great as the above 26 places. Stay out of China and Russia because of the un-trustability of the governments there.

How much time should you spend in each of the above places? At least 2 days, maybe 4 or 5 days. three days in each place will give you a good feel for it.

Where should you stay? depends on your budget. The international hotels are great. So are the local hotels and the B & B’s. Ask to see the room first and see if you like the place. It’s a great world full of great people. Use your head. Watch your money and passport. I’ve taken my family to the above places but use your head and watch out. You can be safe in the above places but not all over each place.
