He may conquer Ukraine for the moment but eventually the people of Ukraine will get their country back, perhaps even the Crimea and Donbass. There are plenty of Ukrainians who feel good towards Russia but there are plenty more who hate the place. Perhaps not the people although the people get the blame for their rulers and leaders but at the moment Russia is a pariah nation, people and leader. Putin has really screwed Russia which means the Russian people. Ukraine and the Ukrainians stand heroically against Putin, Russia and the Russian tanks that are illegally in Ukraine. Even in America, support for Ukrain and against Putin is strong. Here’s some of the people in Washington, DC demonstrating at the Russian Embassy there. 
The heroic resistance of Ukraine is a surprise both to Putin and to the world at large so the world at large is supporting Ukraine. In the face of all that moral opposition Putin has lost and eventually he may go to jail. If America has anything to do or say about jailing Putin, he’s as good as gone.
