Must be the money… Gee! Do Ya Think? Her salary is reported to be $86K (1) but if she’s like a load of other teachers, that’s only part of her compensation.  She teaches at Villanova two days a week. Apparently she’s a full professor. She has an Ed.D degree which is the teaching degree that’s supposed to be the equivalent of a Ph.D but it isn’t. That’s not her fault or the fault of anyone except you might wonder why a full time college professor with the equivalent of a Ph.D is titled Ed.D. instead of Ph.D. The “Official” answer is the Ed.D is not as heavy in Research but is inclined to putting the education of the Ed.D. to work in education. Well, that’s not the reason. The reason is the intellectual capability of teachers is not as high as the IQ of other fields.

As one Quora commentator put it: “At many large universities with an undergraduate college of education, the education school is regarded by students and faculty alike as the weak link, sometimes something of an embarrassment. None of the top dozen or so universities in rankings compiled by magazines like US News or Forbes typically even has an undergraduate ed school, in contrast to lots of institutions among the lowest ranked universities that were originally “normal schools” that even now have large education colleges.”

During my college days at Villanova it was said: “If you can, do. If you can’t, teach.”

Does a good teacher make a difference? We all have school day stories of our favorite teacher or teachers. Quite often the favorite teachers are the most capable, the most qualified.

In the United States, there are typically 35 to 36 weeks in a school year (this is based on a 5-day school week) and 175 to 180 days in a school year. Dr. Jill Biden teaches two classes a week. That’s 70 classes a year for which she’s supposedly paid $86,000. That’s $1,229 an hour. Her husband Joe Biden who is President of The United States receives $400,000.00. a year for 50 weeks work which is $200.00 an hour. So Dr. Jill Biden working at Villanova makes over six times an hour more than the President of The United States does for running the country.
