IQ Isn’t The Only Measure… IQ is good as far as it goes but there’s more to a single person than intelligence.

In addition to IQ there is RACE. Black vs. White. It’s blacks on the offensive because the power supposedly belongs to the Whites but there is more to power than the ability to force behavior on another. IQ is an example of an analog measure. One more IQ point means one more ability. That’s very different than white vs. black. White vs black is binary. It’s either or. But the fallacy of race as a measure lies in it’s analog nature. A bit more black or a bit more white but the measure is lacking. It’s either or. If one is in-between one is still judged by the prevalence of either or. James Baldwin didn’t know that. His world is the clear one where white is oppressor and black is not. Baldwin didn’t get or at least he didn’t write about the in-between world of neither/nor.  The world has a lot of things that are continuums. An IQ of 90 vs 91 is held to be about the same. An IQ of 90 vs 95 has more clarity. An IQ regarding behaviors is not available. Charles Murry and Richard Herrnstein painted IQ in broad strokes and cautioned about it’s usefulness as well as it’s problems. People who are much loved are loved because of their love-ability. People who are smart can be loved or hated because they are smart. All in all, it’s better to be smart but smart doesn’t measure popularity. Once a threshold of IQ is passed being popular can be better that being smart. One cannot pick their IQ but they get to pick their level of intellectual achievement by the amount of information they achieve. There’s no measure of that. One can be tested about their intellectual achievement but that doesn’t reflect only on their intellect. Determination can be much more important in driving intellectual achievement. One can self-educate up to a point after which it can’t be done too efficiently or too effectively. One can read. That’s not enough. One can read books but that’s not enough either. One can read good books but there are far too many. One can read great books but there are far too many of those too. What’s the answer? There is none. Go as far as you can. Go. You are on your own after all.
