Anti-Israel demonstrations in cities around the world against the nation of Israel triggered by their response to rockets being fired by Hamas into Israel. What could Israel do different? Not exist at all according to the tens of thousands of demonstrators but Israel was created by order of the United Nations. On May 14, 1948, David Ben-Gurion, the head of the Jewish Agency, proclaimed the establishment of the State of Israel. U.S. President Harry S. Truman recognized the new nation on the same day.
