Boil-O is a home made concoction made from bottled spirits, honey and spices. There are many, many Boil-O recipes, including a lot from the Pennsylvania Coal Region, affectionally called the Coal Patch. My cousin Eddie hailed from Mahanoy City, PA. His recipe is one of the best.

Eddie’s Coal Patch Boil-O

1.75 l whiskey 80 Proof… Two+ bottles of Four Roses

1.75 l grain alcohol 190 Proof…. Two+  Bottles

6 ½ lb Honey, Wild Flower

12 Cinnamon Sticks cut in half

4 tbl Caraway Seeds

8 Whole Cloves

Wash honey w/2 cups Hot Water

In 2 cups of water boil the Caraway Seeds.

Add the Cinnamon Sticks.

Add the Cloves

Heat the Honey.

Add the spiced liquid.

TURN OFF THE HEAT!

Add the whiskey.

Add the Grain Alcohol.

Put 3 Cinnamon Sticks in each bottle

Makes 8 Fifth’s.
