This is hate!

This is hatred of the good for being good.

The 8,000 kook-a-boos actually and wrongly believe that “the George Washington statue symbolizes a man who owned over 300 Black slaves and profited from their labor.”

The statue does no such thing. There is nothing on or about the statue that has anything at all to do with slaves.

Washington is famous and respected for being a successful military officer, winning many difficult battles to help begin America and for being the first American president. Washington made the decision to free all his slaves in his 1799 will. Washington is not known for being a supporter of slavery. The 8.000 haters need to get things in perspective.

Want to talk about slavery? OK. Pull up a chair. In perusing the FreeTheSlaves website, the first fact that emerges is it was nearly 9,000 years ago that slavery first appeared, in Mesopotamia (6800 B.C.). Enemies captured in war were commonly kept by the conquering country as slaves.

African slaves were sold by their African owners. The slaves were not captured American black people. The slaves were captured Africans who were sold by their African owners. Slavery wasn’t begun in America but it was ended in America and for the 8,000 at the U of W to accept the incomplete narrative of slavery is for them to admit their ignorance about slavery. Slavery began 8,000 years before Washington was born.
