Unless it’s being used to wrongly claim there’s a mystical cause behind events the phrase means there’s a cause and effect rule that operates in the universe. Rocks don’t change into bread. Water doesn’t change into wine. things don’t appear and dissappear at random and they don’t spontaneosly change their nature. It’s science that provides us with rational explanations of an ever wider rangeo of phenomena. But the ideas that some things are ruled by inexplicable miracles, that the natural laws can be upset contradicts everything we know about science and the universe.
